It's over!

The honeymoon is officially over. I really liked that we had a month in between the wedding and honeymoon...it gave us something to look forward to. It was a beautiful week in the Outer Banks...we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was sunny and in the 70's almost everyday. We stayed at a house on a wild horse preserve and saw horses roaming all over through the week. They even walked right by us as we sat on the beach...it was crazy! The place we stayed at was pretty secluded and took some time to get into town so we didn't leave the house much. It was great to just relax and not have to worry about anything. But now back to real life...the honeymoon is over! Now I have at least a weeks worth of vacation hangover to contend with...you know...the depression that sets in after vacation is over. How long does it usually take you before you stop being depressed it's all over??

Losing weight...

I've been on a weight loss plan for almost two months now and it never really gets easy. Just trying to lose a few before the summer months hit and hopefully will be able to just maintain my weight through the summer and leading up to the wedding. I have been dieting since at least 12 years old and although I have learned some things that work and other things that don't...it's still always such a challenge! I'm lucky in that I only have a few pounds to lose but I seem to be struggling with even that. I will persist though and hopefully will be at my ideal weight in the next month or so. Any tricks that you have learned over the years that makes staying on track or losing weight a little easier?

Wedding plans...

The wedding plans are moving right along. So far...we have secured the location for the ceremony and reception. Hired a photographer and DJ and decided on the hotel we would like to stay at. It's a lot of work but the fun kind. Still a lot to do on the to do list but I feel better getting so much done so quickly. Going out to look for a dress this weekend too. Still have to decide on who will perform the ceremony, flowers, get the rings and all that other fun stuff. I was majorly stressed at first but since so much is done at this point I feel much more relaxed...aside from the fact that I worry we won't have enough money!!! Do you enjoy your wedding planning or was it stressful?

It's Christmas time!

I just love Christmas time so much and I try to pack so much into this wonderful season I usually end up doing too much and overwhelm myself! I usually pick up a couple extra shifts at the restaurant since I work in a mall and it's the busy season. Once January comes...the mall will be dead as will my extra income. I do bake various goodies for friends and family members which is very time consuming. I also host Christmas dessert at my house for the family...another major undertaking that takes various hours of planning, shopping and preparing. And of course...all the present shopping, figuring out what to get whom...and all that wrapping! Oh and don't forget the Christmas cards! I took on so much this time last year that by the time Christmas Eve rolled around...I was sick as a dog and went home early to bed on my favorite day of the year. I've been trying very hard to keep myself healthy this year to avoid missing out on my favorite holiday of the year. Do you tend to plan to much for the holiday season and end up having the whole thing a blur?

My dogs new love....

So it's official...my dog now loves my boyfriend more than me. She goes absolutely nuts when he comes over. When we both come in at the same time...she runs right to him and barely notices that I am in the room. If he goes to give me a hug and or kiss while sitting on the couch...she gets up in his face to try to separate us. And whenever I leave the house alone she is usually okay with it...but if him and I leave together...she literally howls as we walk out the door. My poor neighbors!

Thanksgiving travels!

Most years I go to visit my brother and sister in law in North Carolina for Thanksgiving. I have missed a couple here and there...but if I can get away from work I always head south to spend the holiday there. It's always been just me and my dog Tucker who come and I usually bring them Philly type items they can't get down there. Tastykakes, hoagies from Wawa...etc. This year...my boyfriend Joe is going to be with me....sooo....my question is....should I bring a little something extra this year for the added person? Should I get them a gift in addition to the tastykakes? Should we offer money for food? Or maybe take them to dinner as a thank you? Let me know what you think! And have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

What are you staring at?

I'm not sure if people even realize how rude they are being sometimes. I walked into my building at work today and passed by a guy standing at the fountain, eating a sandwich, and he was just staring at me. When that happens I usually just stare back because I find it annoying that someone thinks it is okay to just stare at me. I often feel like saying something but usually don't....just stare back. It got to the point that he smiled at me which I guess in his mind makes it okay. It's very unnerving to have someone stare you down.

Rainy Days....

I was talking about on the air this morning about how I kinda stocked up on things I needed so I wouldn't have to stop in the pouring rain they have predicted to take place all day today. The crew kind of laughed saying it sounded like I was preparing for a snowstorm. I knew that I would be going to work today but I didn't want to put myself in a position to have to dart into stores and stand outside gassing up in the pouring rain. Do you often prepare for a bad rain storm the way you would a snow storm?

Movies on t-v....

My roomates and I turned on the t-v after getting back from dinner Saturday night to find that the movie "The Wedding Date" was almost over. My friend Terry says it is one of her favorites and was disppointed that we had missed it. I pointed out to her that we actually have the DVD there at the house but no one was actually interested in putting on the DVD. Isn't it funny how we come across a movie we like on t-v and will sit through all the commercials and such even when we have a commercial free copy right there. We can also pause and rewind the DVD. I do it myself too. It's kinda crazy...and I'm not sure why we all do it!

Lazy Fall Days....

This morning was so much cooler than it has been out and was such a nice, refreshing change. I LOVE summer but don't mind the cooler temps...it's just the winter that I can't stand. It would be great if we could just do spring, summer, fall and then back to spring. But I do still have another few weeks at the shore and this even makes my shore activities different. I won't be rushing to get up and get to the beach or the pool. I'll be happy to just lay around and chat with my roomies. Maybe spend a little more time hanging on the deck, taking in the view and enjoying good conversation. Everything seems a little more relaxed in the fall and it really is kinda nice. And of course....fall means my favorite time of year as well...FOOTBALL! But summer is still my absolute favorite season. What is the best time of year for you???

Is it true what they say?

I have always said I would never get a tattoo but as some of you may know...I did get one while I was in Vegas earlier this year. Even though I said I would never get a tatoo I did always think that if I ever did get one I would like a small cross on my ankle and that is exactly what I got. Don't get me wrong...I am very happy with it and am not sorry I got it. BUT I was out recently doing some shopping and I saw this very cool picture frame that was in the shape of a music note and I thought right away....oh no...I should have gotten a music note as my tattoo since I love music so much. You know what's coming next right? I swore all over the place that my cross tattoo is the only one I would ever get but I'm thinking...hmm...maybe just one more small music note on the other ankle. Or maybe somewhere else where it's not seen so much...like on my hip. I'm beginning to think it is true what they say...you can't stop at one! Still mulling it over though....

Doggie birthday!

It's Tuckers 4th birthday and time to celebrate. Well, it was actually last week but we typically go to the pet store and get her a really good treat and a stuffed toy that she destroys in 5 minutes flat. It's the only time I buy her stuffed toys anymore because they are expensive...but she's entitled to rip it to shreads once a year. We used to live next door to a pet store that we visited all the time and she really loved the people who worked there since they fawned all over her and gave her tons of treats. Since I no longer live in that area she hasn't been back since we moved almost a year ago. SO...tomorrow is road trip time and a visit to the pet store with the people that she loves the most....(next to her momma I hope). Does anyone else celebrate their pets birthdays or am I completely crazy...lol?

Old Lady???

I work a waitress job at a place in the local mall by my house and obviously work with a large number of youngins. There is one guy in particular that really likes to bust on me for being "old" cause he knows I can take it yet...it still bugs me somewhat. I don't really know how it even started but I do remember telling him one time that when he got to be my age....he would look back and feel bad about all the horribly mean things he says to me. Of course...that will be another 22 years before that day comes but it will come! He is pretty funny though...he came into the kitchen area at one point this week and told me that he sat me a new table and that my friends from high school had requested my section. So I look out and there are two women that have to be in their 80's! I didn't want to laugh...but I had to.

Long week....

This has been one of the longest weeks ever! I always wonder what it is exactly that makes a week go slowly or quickly? Time usually goes quick when you are busy and I am pretty much as busy as I usual...so that can't be it. I am taking a long 3 day weekend down the shore so that could be it...but Chris also agrees that it has been a really long week for her as well. It's so funny how sometimes people agree on how fast or slow a particular week is moving but most time....they don't match up at all. And even though I only have a four day week next week...I'm sure that week will move even slower since I am on vacation for a full week the following week!

Shoreless weekend!

Sadly I will not be heading to the shore this weekend. My mother (dogsitter) is away and I am on dog sitting duty for her two pooches. SO...I was thinking this would be a good weekend to just slouch on the couch and catch up on my DVR or movies....but I had an unexpected free night last night and was very much looking forward to laying around doing nothing. But by 6 p-m...I was bored to tears and so hoping to figure out something to do. It's funny how you long for time to do nothing and then when you get it....you are bored and don't know what to do with yourself. Maybe it goes back to the "you always want what you don't have" theory. The grass is always greener...till you get there. I'll take this opportunity to quote a line from one of my favorite Train songs...."In a world where we only want what we want until we get it". So true.....

Tour Guide?

So my 14 year old niece will be in town for the next few days. We already have a plan in place to take her the shore for a few days but I'm not sure what to do with her around here. She's at the age where she isn't into the little kid stuff anymore but not quite ready for adult stuff either. Any suggestions on what might interest a 14 year old girl???

Cursing on T-V

So I am a regular wather of "The View" and I like some of the hosts and a couple of them...not so much. But my big annoyance and it is mostly Whoopie that does this....is that she is "beeped" so often on the air. Do we not know by now what we can and can't say on the air? I work in radio and I'm pretty sure if I say something that needs to be "beeped" more then once a WEEK I would probably be relieved of my duties. I sometimes hear four to eight beeps per show on the View. I guess it's just a pet peeve of mine but really...can we not manage to stop cursing or saying inappropriate words for an hour out of a day...even less when you count commercial breaks!

A dogs life

So my dog...Tucker...is a Jack Russell/poodle mix and super hyper. She's always awake immediately when the alarm goes off. When I take my usual afternoon nap after work she is typically standing there staring at me when I open my eyes. (Well, that is my fault I guess because we go for her walk after my nap and she is very impatient about them!) And I often feel bad because I feel like she doesn't get as much exercise as she should living in my condo with no yard. But this morning...for some reason...apparently she was exhausted. I don't know if she had a party while I was at work yesterday or was watching t-v in the other room all night and I didn't notice. But when my alarm went off this morning...I made my usual bathroom stop and then headed toward the front door and low and behold...no Tucker waiting at the steps per usual. I called her name...nothing. I called it again...nothing. So I now walk back to the bedroom and throw the light on and she pops up from under the covers with a look like "oh, what's going on?" She then finally jumps off the bed and accompanies outside for her bathroom stop. Of course then she lays around while I get ready for work and goes right back to sleep (I assume) when I leave for work. It is a tough life that one has...I can only imagine what made her so darn tired yesterday!

Still no technology know how...

I was out last night at an establishment that serves adult beverages with a friend. I am never one to play the jukebox but bravo to the others that did last night because the selections they were making were so much to my taste. So I actually decided to peruse thru the selections myself and apparently I don't know how to work these new fangled jukeboxes. I put in a 5 dollar bill which gave me 12 credits. I started to scroll through the selections which I thought were entire albums....apparently not. I kept trying to hit the button to give me a selection of songs from the album and it wouldn't come up. So I'm just hitting buttons and have no idea what I am doing. I finally figure out that I have been playing that one song over and over again and I am down to just one credit! I should have left it to the pro's who were handling things well enough before I strolled up to the big bad jukebox. I miss the rolling ones at the diner...I know how to work them!
